“But Reisman is the standout” — The Washington Post
Classically trained. Devilishly handsome. Hilariously funny. Modest to a fault. Paul Reisman is a professional actor and clown.
It all began in New Jersey. After finishing his BFA in Acting at Montclair State University, Paul continued to train in New York with world–class teachers, including John Basil at Chris Bayes, at the American Globe Theatre and the Funny School of Good Acting, respectively. He had the great good fortune to perform at venues like The Shakespeare Theatre of NJ, TheatreFest, and 12 Miles West, before on tour with the American Shakespeare Center, where he performed three plays in rotating repertory, across the country.
Not long after his adventures on the road, Paul found himself in the DC area, as part of the Shakespeare Theatre Company's Academy for Classical Acting. There, he spent a year under the instruction of such master teachers as Dody DiSanto, Ed Gero, Floyd King, Gary Logan, and Michael Kahn. His pursuit of further training also garnered him his MFA, and a second home base in Washington, DC.
Since then, he has become a founding member and Associate Artistic Director of Faction of Fools, DC's Commedia dell'Arte Theatre Company. In 2012, they were the recipient of the Helen Hayes' Award for Outstanding Emerging Theatre Company. He has also had the pleasure of working with the Shakespeare Theatre Company, during their Tony Award winning season.
When not performing, Paul's time is spent as a teaching artist for places like Faction of Fools, Shakespeare Theatre Company, and the Smithsonian Institution; as well as designing graphics and websites under the banner of PaulReismanDesign. Why, this very site was designed by him! What a talented guy. (He also wrote this copy!)
But perhaps, the best thing he can brag about is his insanely talented wife, Lindsey, and his unspeakably beautiful daughter, Lillie.
