“But Reisman is the standout” — The Washington Post

Classically trained. Devilishly handsome. Hilariously funny. Modest to a fault. Paul Reisman is a professional actor and clown.

It all began in New Jersey. After finishing his BFA in Acting at Montclair State University, Paul continued to train in New York with world–class teachers, including John Basil at Chris Bayes, at the American Globe Theatre and the Funny School of Good Acting, respectively. He had the great good fortune to perform at venues like The Shakespeare Theatre of NJ, TheatreFest, and 12 Miles West, before on tour with the American Shakespeare Center, where he performed three plays in rotating repertory, across the country.

Not long after his adventures on the road, Paul found himself in the DC area, as part of the Shakespeare Theatre Company's Academy for Classical Acting. There, he spent a year under the instruction of such master teachers as Dody DiSanto, Ed Gero, Floyd King, Gary Logan, and Michael Kahn. His pursuit of further training also garnered him his MFA, and a second home base in Washington, DC.

Since then, he helped found Faction of Fools, DC's award-winning Commedia dell'Arte Theatre Company. In 2016, he was named Producing Artistic Director. He has also had the pleasure of performing and directing for many DC theatres including work with the Shakespeare Theatre Company, during their Tony Award winning season.

Additionally, Paul has been an theatre educator for almost 20 years. He is currently an adjunct Professor at Shepherd University, and works as a teaching artist for Faction of Fools, Shakespeare Theatre Company, Imagination Stage and the Smithsonian Institution.
